About Us

MEET THE OWNER

ZACH PETRICH

For over six generations, our family has called Paradise Valley our home. Over the course of 130 or so years, ranching has been our legacy. There are currently four generations living on the ranch today. The ranch is operated solely by family, each member playing a vital role in the orbital function of the ranch. Cattle, big game hunting and fly fishing are our main sources of income, only to name a few. My parents Randy and Dena Petrich are the owners of Rising Son Outfitters, providing world class Elk and Big game hunts on our property. My two younger brothers Zander, Zane and his wife Sidni and their two kids Ruger and Ryder play a vital role working long days on the ranch, booking hunters and managing the all the fine details that run this “well-oiled machine that we call a ranch . Along with the ever-expanding hunting business and a growing family, produced the birth of our lodge in 2021.

Along with the ranches’ big game hunting and cattle production, I decided to venture into commercial fly fishing in the spring of 2014. Guiding fly fisherman on our ranch as well as other local streams and rivers in the area. I was fortunate enough to learn from some of the best guides and outfitters in the area who took me under their wing and taught me what it means to successfully guide commercial fly fisherman.

Things look at little different around here then they might have fifty years ago. As we have seen Paradise Valley transform into a hub for tourism, we have strived to offer quality hunting and fishing to help diversify our ranching operation.

I have been guiding fisherman eleven years now and started Paradise Valley Angler in 2018. I’ve always loved fly fishing from an early age and the financial diversification that PVA gives me has allowed me to stay on the ranch and work with my family. I love ranching, cattle and horses. The days can be long, and the nights short but it’s the most rewarding feeling being able to take pride in our work and continue a legacy that we hope to pass down through generations. I have a long list of extremely talented and professional guides who work for Paradise Valley Angler who make my business run smoothly day in a day out. Im eternally grateful for their hard work and helping make dreams come true.

Apart from guiding commercially, I do enjoy fishing for fun in my free time. Putting on my straw hat and sandals, rock hopping some rugged little mountain creek, casting a foam fly into boulder holes and seeing cutthroats come from six different ways to see who gets there first, is one of the most therapeutic experiences there is in my mind. Apart from being in shorts and sandals and guiding fisherman, I also enjoy riding horses and roping. Its all about the catch for me. Some days its trout some days its cattle. Some days you catch em and some days your don’t. That’s what keeps us coming back. I’m thankful for the life that I get to live and the lessons that I have learned working alongside my family. I have a passion for teaching fly fishing and sharing our lifestyle with anglers from around the world. “Private water was worth every penny.”

We booked a full-day private water trip and it blew us away. No crowds, clear water, and big, hungry trout. Zach was a fantastic guide — knowledgeable, relaxed, and clearly passionate about what he does. Can’t wait to come back next season.

“Family-friendly and fun for all ages!”

We brought our two teenage kids out for a guided float, and it ended up being the highlight of our entire trip to Montana. Zach made it easy for everyone to catch fish and kept the energy high all day. Our kids haven’t stopped talking about it.

“Incredible local knowledge.”

Zach grew up in Paradise Valley and it shows — he knew every bend, every hatch, and every little detail that made the day successful. We learned a ton, caught a pile of fish, and felt like we were fishing with an old friend.
